Engineered for Reliability
Mermaid-K™ is constructed from carefully selected, high-quality components to ensure durability, reliability and long-term performance. Each element works seamlessly together, from the anchoring system and load-bearing mooring lines to environmentally considerate seabed interfaces. Combined, these components form a robust, sustainable mooring solution designed to perform in a wide range of marine conditions.
Seaflex Tensile Unit
The Seaflex tensile unit is installed beneath the mooring buoy to reduce load throughout the system. Certified to ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management, Seaflex products meet international standards for sustainability and performance. Each unit is fully recyclable, with clear end-of-life management options available.
Dyneema Line
Dyneema lines are chosen for their exceptional strength, longevity and sustainability. Made from renewable biomass sources, with 36% recycled content, they offer a significantly lower carbon impact than traditional chain, up to 50% less. Our design minimises microplastic release through ultra-low friction sheaves and precision splicing, ensuring durability with minimal environmental impact.
ARC Marine Reef Cubes
Our standard sinker is made from non-leaching concrete, specially developed for underwater use. This formulation prevents washout, increases durability and protects the surrounding environment. For an enhanced ecological benefit, the sinker can be upgraded with an ARC Marine Reef Cube, designed to promote biodiversity and encourage marine life to thrive on its surfaces.
Rotax Mooring Buoys
Mermaid-K™ uses Rotax mooring buoys for their quality and sustainability. Rotax is committed to reducing environmental impact by manufacturing each buoy from 100% recyclable materials. At end of life, the buoys are collected and fully recycled back into raw materials, supporting a true circular process.
Tested. Trusted. Transformative.
From coastal moorings to offshore installations, Mermaid-K™ is setting new benchmarks in sustainable performance. Our case studies show how its innovative design delivers secure mooring, minimal seabed impact, lower maintenance costs and impressive long-term results. Each project highlights innovation, sustainability and trusted engineering, showing how Mermaid-K™ helps clients achieve responsible, future-ready mooring.
Seal Sanctuary, Looe Island
Navigational Markers
Two marker buoys with signage were deployed to help minimise disturbance to the seals around Looe Island. Mermaid-K ASMS moorings were used to protect the marine environment, and Arc Marine Reef Cubes were installed to enhance local biodiversity.
Falkland Islands
Mooring Buoys
Stanley Harbour in the Falkland Islands provides the ideal setting to test the durability of our product. Located deep in the South Atlantic and exposed to some of the strongest winds on the planet, it offers a true test of performance. Three Mermaid-K ASMS moorings are now in year-round use, protecting local and visiting vessels in this remote and beautiful location.
Seaview
Mooring Buoys
Seaview, a natural anchorage in the busy Solent off the Isle of Wight, has extensive seagrass meadows. Working with Project Seagrass, we installed two Mermaid-K ASMS moorings to protect the seabed and support the local marine environment for both local and visiting boats.
Jersey
Mooring Buoys
Ports of Jersey selected the Mermaid-K ASMS for a trial studying the benefits of advanced mooring systems within seagrass meadows. A single mooring has been installed in St Catherine’s Bay, with more planned. With a tidal range of 12 metres, one of the largest in the world, this complex installation ensures that even at low spring tides no part of the system scours the seabed.
Seawilding, Loch Craignish
Mooring Buoys
In partnership with Seawilding, we installed a Mermaid-K ASMS in Loch Craignish. This community project is rewilding the loch with native oysters and seagrass, and our mooring supports their work by preventing seabed scouring when anchoring research vessels.
